Its been a crazy week! But some really awesome stuff happened.
We share a building with the YSA ward. On Sunday a kid from the YSA ward came up to me and said "Hey, I knew I recognized your from somewhere, you were the missionary that found me. Do you remember?" (of course I remembered! I ask YSA how he is doing all the time). anyways he said "I just wanted to thank you for what you did. I found Jesus and I am really happy. Really thank you so much."
It was the best.
Also our investigators Marina and Felipe came to church and loved it! They are both struggling with addictions so please keep them in your prayers! They have a date for the 28th. (Happy Birthday T)
Last week we knock into a an awesome family. We had just finished praying with the parents when their son Richard walk in the house. We gave him a card and headed out because we were late to an appointment. As we were walking to our car, and car pulled up beside us and asked us if we needed a ride, it was Richard. We told him no then we proceeded to tell us that he was really really interested and that he was going to come to church on Sunday. We asked him how old he was. 24(shoot. YSA.), well are you married or do you have a kid. Yes, I have a son. (YES!!! OURS!). So we spent this week trying to contact them. The first time we were only able to meet with the dad. He told us that they would for sure be a church. Then he told us that since we prayed everything in their family has been going so much better, that they have been seeing miracles! Especially in their son Dennis who they had a pray for because he is struggling with alcoholism. We went back a second time and no one was there, and they didn't show up to church! finally we went back last night! and Richard and his mom and dad were there! Richard was so excited to see us and talk more! He told us that he went to the church building in the evening so that he could talk to someone and thank them for sending us! Of course it was closed! But we prayed with them again, and again the mom asked to include Dennis in the prayer. As we were finishing up Dennis rolls up on his bike. Richard said "do you know what a miracle this is. Dennis is never here! This is from God, I mean you after my parents asked you to pray for him twice!" We gave them all Book of Mormons and they are so excited! We are going over tonight at 6!
I learned a valuable lesson this week from one of our investigators named Jose. His wife lives in Guatemala and has been a member for years. He also has a son who is on a mission in Honduras. Right now he is living with some members from the ward. He has been in the US for 20 years and it has been 15 years since he has seen his family. I dont know exactly how it works but once you come here its really complicated to go back to your country, and he wasnt to be here anyway, and he wants his wife here, and she wants him there. Anyway. 20 years ago she decided not to come to the US with him. Then 5 years later he went back for her and she said no again. Now she wants to come....but he told us that he told her its "too late."
There is a lot more to the story. But Essentially they have lost so much time to together for selfish reasons and because they cant forgive each other. I learned the importance of forgiveness and not wasting a minute or years being mad or upset at someone.
I am really starting to see how short life is, but how significant it is. All we do here will determine what we have for eternity. And its really hard, but its worth is. Ever second of every day we choose to make or break a covenant with God. We promised that we would serve him with ALL we have, we promised that we would be a witness of Him, at ALL times, and in ALL places. We cant break that, we cant go back now. I have learned that we often put our selves in seemingly innocent situations where the spirit cant not dwell with us, we think it will have no effect on our salvation. But it does. Also we have the PRIVILEGED to ALWAYS have the spirit to be with us. It is the greatest gift we have! Always- not just when I am not in the movie theater seeing that bad movie (but its not even R-rated), or listening to song that has a "good beat" but I'm not paying attention to the words, really the list goes on. Trust the Savior.
I love you all!!!
